This old girl was seductively tarped and made me think of Christo, famous for wrapping all kinds of things and calling it art, and what he might do with his boat. This is a painting done from a sketch at the Ilwaco, WA boatyard, with lots of expressive color in the hull, sky, shadows, and more.
When I had the pleasure of interviewing Jackson Ordean, he began by telling me he grew up barefoot and shirtless in a small art colony town on the beach..." pungent salt and seaweed smells up my nose and the natural 'music' in my ears of foamy water flowing over gravelly sand.
