Fun & Beauty says my personal banner! Friend Hannah taking a surfing vacation from her lab job in Iowa has come to Doheny, where I learned to surf in Southern California. This is a composite of a pose Hannah sent me along with some variation of my own, and a creative reimagination of a photo of a Doheny wave... but the rider and wave are going in a different, 'goofy foot' direction. I felt really good about my illusion of transparency of water juxtaposed with ripple projected sky reflection. Enjoy!

When I had the pleasure of interviewing Jackson Ordean, he began by telling me he grew up barefoot and shirtless in a small art colony town on the beach..." pungent salt and seaweed smells up my nose and the natural 'music' in my ears of foamy water flowing over gravelly sand. It was all a crystal clear world without words. People spoke 'at' me in staccato sounds I didn't really hear, but I abstractly saw each facial expression and their moving mouths...
